Greg Nelson Disney World, Orlando, Theme Parks

Disney name tags remain one of the most important pieces of a Disney employee’s uniform. Park guests can not only discover the person’s naDisney name tags remain one of the most me, but also their hometown. It’s a special way for guests to connect on a personal basis.

Most Disney employees can be found with a white oval name tag with blue lettering. Finding a Disney employee with a hometown near your own can make for an instant conversation starter. So can finding an employee with a hometown that you find particularly interesting.

But finding a Disney employee with a name tag that varies from the traditional white oval with blue lettering may mean something else altogether.

A blue oval tag with white letters represents an employee who has received the Walt Disney Legacy Award. Only about 350 of 66,000 Disney World cast members received the distinct Legacy Award name tag last spring. The Disney Legacy special recognition is based on nominations by fellow cast members. Winners, chosen by a panel of cast members, leaders and executives, are honored for excelling in three categories – “dream,” “create” and “inspire.”

Disney Legacy Award winners must go above and beyond every day, help improve the work environment and inspire others. Winners get to wear the blue tag, emblazoned with their name, home town and the words – DREAM, CREATE, INSPIRE – for as long as they are employed at Disney.
